My name is Melisa and I am an artist. I am not a successful poet or a Meryl Streep...yet. "The in between" is to discuss art and what it means to be an artist. Anyone who wishes to comment is welcome. The important stuff lies in the spaces between the BIG Stuff. Those long stretches of silence, the routine of everyday life is where life happens, where potentially profound art is born.

What is the one word that comes to mind when you look out from the stage into an empty theater, soon to be filled with an audience full of expectation?
Magic.
It is a sacred space. Theater at its peak is an entire audience communing with the actors onstage, experiencing each moment the same as the actors experience it. The audience enters into the story- they buy it, believe it. There's an air of excitement, anticipation...
The more the performers give themselves to their performance- the more the audience receives.
